A Contam cube pessary is a simple and discreet way to support more severe prolapse

Uterine prolapse is an uncomfortable and confidence-sapping condition to have, particularly in more severe cases. Many women find that using pessary treatment for prolapse is a convenient way of staying comfortable without resorting to surgery. However, there are a wide range of pessaries available and it can be quite confusing to decide which shape and material is best for you.

Contam offer a range of tampon-like pessaries for prolapse and stress incontinence. Their design makes them really easy to use as insertion is just like a standard menstrual tampon and they are made of medical foam that is soft and comfortable. The Contam Dice cube pessary for prolapse has been designed especially for more severe cases of uterine prolapse. Cube pessaries are recommended for prolapse up to stage 3; this is also known as a complete prolapse, where the cervix protrudes slightly from the entrance of the vagina. The Contam Dice offers excellent support and will stay put all day, leaving you to get on with life in comfort.

contam diceHow to use Contam Dice pessaries

  • Wash your hands thoroughly and remove the pessary from its bag
  • Soak the pessary in warm water for about 1 minute, then gently squeeze. It will become soft and elastic.
  • Contam pessaries are inserted in the same way as menstrual tampons, so find a comfortable position on the toilet or with a leg raised
  • Insert the pessary as deeply as possible into your vagina to support your uterus
  • Make sure that the removal thread is always outside of your vagina, as with a standard tampon
  • To remove, gently pull on the removal thread.

This prolapse pessary puts me in control, easy to use. Review by jayne I
Product Rating
This cube pessary fold for insertion so its not as scary as it looks. It has helped me no end, I have a prolapsed but at 31 I want more children, so I am not suitable for prolapse surgery, this pessary is a good alternative. Works out quite costly, so I use many times over, washing carefully in milton! (Posted on 25 April 2017)

I have now been using these for about 2 weeks. What I like is that I can choose when I use them. I was given a ring pessary by my GP and I did not like the side effects of it but it made a noticeable difference in terms of support for my organs. This works just as well and is very easy to use. Very comfortable and easy to use.
It can cause a lot of dryness which can be nasty so make sure you use vaginal moisturisers with it.
Helped support my prolapsed uterus, and helps with going to the toilet as I have a cystocele and rectocele also.
I like the idea of the last review, using Milton tablets as boiling hot water deforms them, so I’ll be trying that tonight. (Posted on 28 December 2017)

Product Questions

I haven’t bought a pessary yet as I’m worried that removal might make the prolapse worse. Could you tell me if that is a needless fear please? Could it ever make a prolapse worse by dragging when removing the pessary or would you recommend a lubricant of some form to ensure it doesn’t drag before removal?
How do I determine the size of the dice pessary.
