Improve skin health and relieve aching joints with the Beurer MP70 Paraffin Bath.
Paraffin baths are widely used in both beauty spas and hospitals. They work by heating paraffin wax until it becomes a warm liquid. The treatment area is immersed in the wax and then removed, where it then forms a seal on the skin. This is the perfect treatment for aching joints, arthritis, tennis elbow, tendinitis, eczema and more. You can dip your hand, elbow or up to a size 6 foot in the bath. Larger areas can be dipped into the paraffin wax in stages; for example dipping toes first, and then the heel of your foot.
The heat from the paraffin is transferred into the body when it solidifies. It is this process which provides instant pain relief for aching muscles and joints and helps to increase flexibility in stiff areas. Paraffin baths are often used in hospitals for people recovering from injury to help keep the damaged area mobile and pain-free, and to increase the rate of healing and recovery.
Paraffin baths are also useful for keeping skin hydrated and healthy. The wax has moisturising properties so is ideal to use on dry, cracked skin on the hands, feet or elbows. It also prepares the skin for further beauty treatments, promoting the absorption of nutrients and moisture. It can also help to protect damaged skin as a result of burns or eczema, as the wax forms a seal against the outside.
The 2 bags of paraffin wax included with this bath are scented with orange for a completely relaxing and revitalizing experience. 30 plastic liners are included; these are designed to be wrapped around the solidified wax in order to protect it whilst it works its magic on your skin and joints. The bath is powered by mains electric with a voltage of 230v-240v.

- Exceptional pain relief Review by Sunita
Wash hands thoroughly.
Get the paraffin bath temperature right
Dip hand into the bath and lift back out - allowing the wax to drip dry for a moment.I then dip it again. Don't wait too long between dips I aim to build up the heat (the longer it cools the less heat you will have).
I dip my hands about 6-7 times until I have built up a thick waxy coat on my hands, keeping my hand still and not cracking the wax if possible. I then wrap my hands in the plastic bag (Hubby helps if I do both hands but mainly I treat my right hand)
Cover your hand with a plastic bag.
I then wrap my bagged hands in a towel or blanket, lots of layers of insulation that the wax helps to conduct (sometimes I use a heat pad too especially to rest my wrists on)
I leave this for about 20 minutes or when it it has cooled significantly and peel off the wax into the bag and throw away. I know that you can reuse the wax and place it back in the paraffin bath to melt and reuse, but it has hair and skin cells in it so it doesn't feel quite right to me! Replacement blocks of paraffin wax for this unit are available here and a good price so prefer to use new wax rather than recycling. As you only use a think layer it is quite long lasting, I've had 10 treatments so far ans still going strong on the original supplied.
My husband wanted to use it for his gout, he had read that a paraffin bath for gout was really effective. However on this occasion I told him if he wanted to use it he would have to buy his own or completely replace the wax - I didn't fancy it after his gouty toes had been in there!
My skin is in the best condition it has been for years but more importantly the pain is considerably reduced, and I have more flexibility and movement in my hands and fingers.
Hope this helps other users. (Posted on 9 June 2015)
- Gods Send! Review by Val
I have the hands of an old lady, and I don't feel like one!
I decided to try this after trying one at the Physio department, I remember the relief I go from that one was quite amazing and asking the Dr about it. I didn't realise I could buy one and was amazed when I found this.
This is fabulous, I use it daily to help the pain from my arthritis, it is wonderful. It takes a while to warm up and get to the right temperature, but the relief is outstanding, I haven't had to take a pain killer all week, and of course the side effect is that I have the smoothest hands ever.
Joking apart, the paraffin has a gentle pleasant fragrance, the pain relief is a blessing and I feel that I have been given a new lease of life. How amazing.
I've also used it for my foot/anklet too as I broke my ankle 10 years ago and have developed arthritis there too.
Highly recommended - which I had seen it years ago! (Posted on 16 July 2014)
- Excellent product. Good Service from Stress no more. Review by Vera J
The bath is lovely to use, it takes a while to heat up so it means it isn't always as instant as other hot compresses, but I feel the benefits are far more superior, I just don't know what that is but any relief is most welcome.
Excellent product. (Posted on 19 August 2014)

Its a lovely therapy - many people swear by it, a real option to traditional pain relief.
We hear great reports about the cumulative benefits of extended use too.
Yes you can fit your size 51/2 foot in no problem.

Thank you for your question.
For osteoarthritis treatment, it is recommend that paraffin wax be used around 52 degrees celsius when you begin treatment. The Beurer MPE 70 Paraffin Bath needs to be switched on to the 'hot' setting first in order to melt the wax block, and this takes around 2-3 hours, then you should allow the wax to cool to the required temperature before using.
I can get a size 6 / 39 into the pot, any foot bigger than that would not get the entire foot in, but it could then be 'done' in two sessions, i.e. toes, followed by heel and ankles.
Hope this helps - its a best seller at the moment - flying off the shelves!
