By placing a digital hygrometer in your home you can stop mould before it starts
When you think about the heating and maintenance of your home, mould prevention should be an absolute priority. Mould starts to grow on your walls and other surfaces if it’s too damp and cause respiratory conditions, infections, a weak immune system and has even been linked with depression. Dry air can also cause discomfort and health problems; drying out the skin, worsening conditions like eczema and irritating the throat and sinuses. Structural damage is also a concern, as wood and other materials can be weakened and cracked, leading to expensive repairs.
You can prevent all of these problems by using a hygrometer. This powerful little machine measures the temperature and humidity levels in your home. The ADE 1501 hygrometer will alert you if the air is damp enough to cause harmful mould or condensation; consider it as essential as a fire alarm or carbon monoxide detector! The LCD display has a built in bar chart that allows you to quickly see what the humidity levels have been for the past 12 hours, giving you a clear picture of the overall conditions in your home.
Using the ADE WS 1501
The ADE WS 1501 can be hung on the wall or propped up on its built-in stand. When you switch the unit on it will begin measuring the humidity levels immediately, displaying the temperature and humidity percentage on the bottom of the LCD screen. The bar chart at the top is divided into intervals and shows what the humidity level was 12, 9, 6 and 3 hours ago, comparing it to the current one. The humidity percentages are shown on the right hand side and simplified on the left with these headers:
- Too dry
- Dry
- Comfort
- Wet
- Too wet
A line between ‘Comfort’ and ‘Wet’ helps you determine the exact point at which mould will begin growing so that you can see instantly is your home is at risk.
You can set the maximum and minimum humidity levels that are comfortable for you (40-60% is the standard recommendation but you may prefer a different level if you have a health condition). An optional minute-long alarm will go off if the humidity goes above or below these levels, enabling you to make changes as soon as the level of moisture starts to become unhealthy. The dew point indicator displays a warning onscreen if there is too much condensation, helping you to stop the damage that this can cause to household items. The customised mould alert can be set for a threshold of 60, 65, 70 or 75% humidity and if this level is reached, the red LED on the front of the unit will flash while the screen displays the ‘mould risk’ symbol. You really can’t afford to risk the health and financial consequences of mould and condensation, so protect yourself and your home today with this compact and informative hygrometer!
