How long should I leave the dilator in for?
With dilator therapy it is essential to listen to your body, to what feels comfortable. The Kegel8 Vaginal Dilators have been created to be wearable, so you could use them for a few minutes a day, between 10 - 15 minutes, or even longer in the case of pelvic pain.

Why do I need to use a vaginal dilator?
In the case of radiation therapy scar tissue can form at the top of the vagina. Dilator therapy will help to prevent scar tissue from forming. and keep the vagina comfortable allowing further vaginal examinations in the future.

During the course of radiation therapy when should I start using a dilator?
Follow medical guidance from your team. Dilator therapy usually starts a few weeks after radiation therapy begins, or a few weeks after the completion of your treatment. Sexual intercourse is also good to prevent scarring, and will help to stop the vagina scarring, if you are not having sexual intercourse (3 times per week) you should be using dilator therapy.

Can I sleep with the dilator in place?
Yes, you can. Kegel8 dilators have been designed to be worn and their softer body friendly material means they are comfortable compared to rigid plastic dilators. If you want to increase the size of the dilator, we recommend you sleep in one size, then on waking, try to use the next size up. Your muscles are relaxed and have stretched overnight so you'll find progression up in sizes more comfortable and easier to to so.

Is it normal to be sore after using a dilator?
You should do dilator therapy 3- 4 times a week, if you miss you might find a soreness when you go back to using a dilator. Always use a good moisturiser such as Kegel8 Dilator Gel. Making sure you choose a natural lubricant with no hormones. Also consider your vaginal microbiome (VMB) by maintaining your pH level to keep a health level in your vaginal membrane. DO NOT use Vaseline, petroleum jelly or baby oil, these are chemical based products that will alter the pH level of your VMB.

Are there any side effects of dilator therapy,
You might have light bleeding or spotting when using a dilator. You might also experience mild discomfort or a little soreness. If you have heavy bleeding, or bleeding that lasts more than 24 hours please speak with your healthcare provider.

How do I use a Kegel8 Vaginal Dilator?
1. Starting with the smallest dilator in the kit, fill the well of the lubricant delivery system with Kegel8® Dilator Gel, or, alternatively, your own medicated gel. This unique system will evenly distribute the gel through the channels to ensure the dilator is well lubricated for use.
2. Sit in a reclining position with your knees slightly apart. This is the most comfortable and natural position for insertion when using the lubricant delivery system. Control your breathing, relax, and begin the inserting process.
3. Gently insert the dilator into the vagina similarly to how you would insert a tampon. Do not force the dilator in, just insert it to a depth that is comfortable for you.
4. Go about your normal routine! Alternatively, once comfortable, move the dilator left to right and vice versa for 5-10 minutes. Completely unique in design and material, you can even sit comfortably on your vaginal dilator if this is your preferred method of treatment.
5. Dilation therapy is recommended 5-6 times a week for between 5-20 minutes. Gradually increase the size of the dilator used. When you can insert the dilator fully so the base is flush with the vagina opening without any discomfort, you are ready to move on the larger size.
6. Gently remove the dilator by moving it from side to side and using the flared base.
Clean with our Kegel8® Cleaning Spray or mild soap and warm water. Then, let air dry or blot dry with a paper towel.
