Deafgard: The Portable Fire Alarm Device Cleverly Engineered for the Deaf or Hard of Hearing
Specially designed for the deaf or hard of hearing, Fireco Deafgard has a powerful vibration pad that sits under a pillow and flashing lights which wake the sleeper up in the event of a fire. The display on the front of the device reads ‘FIRE’ for further clarity.
This ground-breaking device is used in hotels all over the world to provide safety for the deaf and hard of hearing, and it ensures businesses comply with elements of the Equality Act 2010.
Completely Portable Requiring No Installation or Power Points
One of the most efficient and practical things about this cleverly engineered safety device, is that it requires no installation and is completely portable. Being battery powered, you can place the device wherever you need to. This allows the user to take it anywhere they go, whether on holidays, away on business or staying with friends and family over the festive period. The peace of mind, knowing that in the event of a fire you will be alerted just like the rest of the sleeping building is absolutely priceless; not just for you, but for those who care about you.
How Does Deafgard Work?
Deafgard is a battery powered unit that listens continually for a fire alarm when it is switched on. To activate, it needs to hear a fire alarm that exceeds 75 decibels at the bed head and the alarm must sound for 20 seconds or more before it will wake you. This clever function means it won’t wake you if a fire alarm is simply beeping due to the battery needing changed, or if the fire alarm is accidentally activated and then swiftly turned off. It also won’t activate in response to other loud noises that don’t emulate the decibel level of a fire alarm, such as loud music or a car alarm sounding outside. Deafgard is CE marked and tested to all applicable British and European standards such as EN 61000-6-1:2001 for total safety and efficacy.
Deafgard also has a very handy alarm clock function to wake you for work or social gatherings, with Deafgard there is no excuse to be late and no compromise on your safety. It gives deaf or hard of hearing people the independence to sleep peacefully in hotels knowing a stranger isn’t going to enter their room to wake them in the event of a fire. It protects not just your life but your privacy and sense of independence.
