Get an overall picture of health & identify any potential future health risks by measuring blood pressure & oxygen saturation
Measuring blood pressure not only provides an accurate picture of overall health, but it also indicates the potential risk of falling victim to health complications in the future. Indeed, prolonged high blood pressure/hypertension can increase the risk of developing cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, or suffering a stroke, embolism, or aneurysm.
Approximately 1 in 5 people in the UK suffer with hypertension/high blood pressure (Gill. S, Kristensen. SD. 08/02/2011). However, it is often referred to as a ‘silent killer’ because, in many cases, it displays no obvious symptoms and, as such, countless people remain unaware. Conversely, some are misdiagnosed with hypertension because they present with symptoms of, what is known as, the ‘white coat effect’. This means that blood pressure increases dramatically when taken in a medical setting.
Ideally, blood pressure should be more than 90 over 60 (90/60) and less than 120 over 80 (120/80). Being able to measure this ourselves, in an environment in which we are comfortable, enables us to achieve increased frequency and greater accuracy. We can then determine what lifestyle/diet changes can be implemented to mitigate the risk of future illness or, indeed, seek medical advice where necessary.
A normal SpO2 (oxygen saturation/how much oxygen the blood is carrying) level is vitally important for maintaining the health of all tissues within the body. As such, measuring and monitoring this, in addition to blood pressure, enables us to identify any current or potential future health issues. Typically, the level should be between 94% and 99%, but in those with mild respiratory diseases, it must be 90% or above.
When oxygen saturation is below the recommended level, it is referred to as hypoxemia and is likely to cause hypoxia (lack of oxygen in the tissues). When this occurs for a prolonged period, it can cause cyanosis, which refers to when the skin takes on a blueish tinge. Severe hypoxia causes twitches, disorientation, hallucinations, pallor, irregular heartbeat and can even be fatal. As such, it is essential to monitor this regularly and seek medical attention if the average reading is abnormal. If your blood pressure gets severely low, there's a significant danger that the tissues won’t receive enough oxygen to carry out their individual functions. Therefore, it’s essential to take SpO2 and blood pressure levels in conjunction with one another.
Take automatic readings at 5, 10 or 30 minute intervals & read the real time & historical data on your mobile phone!
This Bluetooth automatic blood pressure monitor has been expertly engineered for accurate home use. An all-in-one health monitor, it accurately measures blood pressure, SpO2 and pulse rate, displaying the results clearly and concisely on the large, colour LCD screen. Boasting advanced technology, it comes complete with access to the free app and is compatible with most iOS and android devices. This app stores all the historical data, enabling you to analyse the results more effectively and revert back to previous readings where required. This technologically advanced device even enables you to set-up continual automatic measurements every, 5, 10 or 30 minutes via the app. This will allow you to obtain a highly accurate average reading. In addition, it is ideal for use in a healthcare setting where non-contact monitoring is required.
Ergonomically designed, the Viatom Blood Pressure and SP02 Monitor with APP is incredibly simple to operate, with or without the app. Indeed, it boasts single button operation when controlled without using the app. When wearing the upper arm cuff, simply press the single button and relax as the device takes your blood pressure. This takes just 30 seconds then displays on the screen and stores automatically in the app. In addition, the screen will automatically display the real time SpO2 when the finger sensor is attached to the device and the user. It will also display perfusion index (pulse strength at sensor site) and will flash when abnormal readings are detected.
Professionally certified and recommended, the Viatom Blood Pressure and SP02 Monitor is accurate and reliable and even comes complete with a 12-month warranty!
