Medical Grade Open Toed Compression Stockings to Aid Recovery Following Surgery
If you have undergone surgery, it is imperative you wear compression stockings that will reduce swelling and assist your body in eliminating excess water that causes swelling and pain. If you are scheduled to have surgery, investing in a high-quality and durable pair of compression socks should be on the top of your to-do list, to ensure a full and speedy recovery, and to prevent life-threatening blood clots.
The body’s natural reaction to surgery or injury is to swell with water to protect itself, but excessive water retention can be very dangerous, so you must prevent this happening for the sake of your health and wellbeing.
Using Compression Socks to Treat Varicose Veins
Commonly called varicose veins, CVI is a condition that occurs when the venous wall and/or valves in the leg veins are not working effectively, making it difficult for blood to return to the heart from the legs. If you have CVI, you may be experiencing leg pain and cramps, and a feeling of burning throbbing or restlessness in the effected leg or legs. If varicose veins are left untreated, life-threatening blood clots can occur. This happens when stagnant blood gets ‘stuck’ in the veins and begins to clot together, eventually the pressure of the restricted blood flow will dislodge the clot, allowing it to travel to the heart where it can cause death.
Those with varicose veins need to be especially careful when seated for a long period of time, for example whilst travelling. Sitting for long periods of time greatly increases the likelihood of developing a blood clot from your varicose vein problem, simply wearing these compression socks can help to eliminate this risk.
Open Toed Compression Stockings Suitable for Every Day Wear, Even in Summer
The Tonus Elast LUX Open Toe Long Compression Socks are suitable for use every day and you can choose either black or sand colours. Because they have open toes, you can wear them through the summer months and still wear normal summer shoes so your feet stay cool and comfortable. The open toed feature takes nothing away from the incredible medical benefits of these compression stockings. They have been manufactured to the highest, medically graded standards to offer the optimum protection for those at risk for reasons such as:
- Prolonged bed rest (such as after surgery)
- Sitting for long periods (such as on a plane)
- Use of birth control pills or hormone replacement therapy
- Pregnancy
- Family history of deep vein thrombosis
- Inflammatory bowel disease, and certain genetic clotting disorders
Compression Stockings to Help Circulation
Wearing compression stockings can also help you if you struggle with poor circulation. If your feet are constantly cold no matter the thickness of your socks, it could be down to poor circulation. Healthy blood flow is vital for keeping your extremities like your feet and hands nice and warm; wearing compression garments is a great way of boosting your blood flow.
Compression Socks Manufactured to the Highest Standards
The Tonus Elast LUX Open Toe Long Compression Socks are certified by the Latvian Phlebotomy Association and registered as a medical grade garment in more than 27 countries. What Size Compression Socks Should You Buy?
Simply measure your legs in the areas B, C and D as shown in the diagram below and select your size. Compression socks are designed to be tight fitting to your legs (this is how the compression works) so, when you first put your socks on you may wish to use talcum powder on your legs to make pulling them on easier. Because these compression socks are open toed they tend to be a little easier to put on than other compression stockings.
