Not only did the Beurer BM70 win the Plus X Design Award in 2010, it also recently carried its 2011 title of Best Blood Pressure Device into 2012. Reviews like this don’t come easily, but it’s easy to see why the innovative BM70 is in the top of its league.
The BM70 balances simplicity with innovation. The fully automatic device has a large display which makes it easy to read and very straightforward to use, whilst having multiple features that make it more accurate and give a better insight into your health than other BP monitors.
Not only does the device use World Health Organisation classifications of blood pressure measurements, it can also identify irregular heartbeats that could be a result of arrhythmia (also known as dysrhythmia) which can be a very serious health problem. Heart rhythm disturbance often goes unidentified if somebody does not have regular health checks, so a device that keeps an eye out for this as it monitors your blood pressure daily will give you that extra peace of mind.
The BM70’s built in memory stores two sets of up to 60 measurements. This means that two users could keep track of their daily readings over a period of two months. Long term monitoring of blood pressure is important whether you are aiming to improve your health or simply want keep an eye on it, and it’s far easier to track when your monitor automatically records the results for you.
The most innovative aspect of the BM70 is the unique and patented resting indicator which can tell you if your readings are accurate based on whether your body is fully at rest. After the blood pressure measurement is given a notification will tell you if your body was completely at rest and if not prompt you to take another measurement that will be more accurate.
With a cuff-size of 24-36cm the BM70 is an upper arm device which is fully automatic so that it can be used simply and comfortably without aid from anybody else. The display shows the date and time, and indicates when the battery requires changing, although it is compatible with a mains adapter too. The device comes with a handy storage bag which allows you to take your blood pressure monitor with you on holiday or on days out so that you can keep an eye on your health wherever you go and feel confident that you are fighting fit.
