Which do I need – cold therapy or heat therapy?

Doctors recommend that cold therapy is used for the first 48 hours after an injury to help relieve swelling and inflammation. After this, it’s a good idea to apply heat instead as this will help to keep your muscles relaxed and relieve pain. Heat therapy allows you to move your muscles more easily, helping you to return them to their normal function. Aside from current injuries, heat is excellent for soothing long term aches and pains, as well as soothing menstrual cramps.
