3rd degree prolapse or procidentia can be extremely distressing. This pessary is designed to support the pelvic organs and help to relieve the symptoms of prolapse.
This gellhorn pessary is designed for use in women with severe 3rd degree prolapse and procedentia.
This diagram shows how a Gellhorn Pessary should be inserted. The 'disc' part should face upwards and the stem should point down.
Pessaries are used as a first-line treatment in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse and are designed to support your pelvic organs and help to keep them in the right place. They are also an effective tool for managing pelvic organ prolapse without surgery.
This particular style of pessary is designed for women with severe or third-degree pelvic organ prolapse and helps to support your internal organs. Whilst pessaries cannot cure a pelvic organ prolapse, they help to manage and slow the progression of a prolapse by adding support to the vagina and increasing the tightness of the muscles and tissues of the pelvis.
This pessary is made from flexible silicone for easier insertion and features multiple drainage holes for hygiene and comfort. This model features a shorter stem for women whose cervix is lower due to severe prolapse.
This pessary is available in the following diameters: 6.4cm, 7cm, 7.6cm
Please note: initial pessary fitting and sizing should be carried out by a trained healthcare professional.

- I am awaiting surgery, my gyn man fitted me with a gellhorn pessary which was a life saver, however he removed it pending surgery, I purchased another from you, as life was not good without one.But I failed to fit it myself, also my nurse at my doctors c Review by tootsie

It supports my prolapse, and give me extra support in the pelvic department. I didn't want surgery and this was recommended to me by my Midwife following a difficult delivery of my youngest.
Would recommend to other women if they can get on with inserting and removing etc, I don't have a problem at all with mine. I also find that I use the short stem gellhorn at certain times in the month and other I use the regular stem gellhorn one due to the height changes in my cervix (time of the month and all that) (Posted on 23 January 2013)
Thanks a lot .
Here is a link to the US maker Cooper Surgical, it will be better if you contact them, the link shows the sizes etc. I hope this helps.
