The eco-friendly, body friendly alternative to tampons

Secure & Discreet with StressNoMore
Made from soft, body friendly silicone rubber the Moon cup is the eco friendly reusable menstrual cup. At around two inches long it is worn internally like a tampon but collects menstrual fluid rather than absorbing. Unlike tampons the Mooncup is not a disposable product, so you only need to buy one, so our landfill sites will thank you too!
The Moon cup will hold 30ml of fluid, which is roughly one third of the average total produced each period. A light seal is formed with your vaginal walls allowing your menstrual fluid to pass into the Mooncup without leakage or odour. You will probably find that you need to empty your Moon cup less frequently than you currently replace towels or tampons.
Size:
A measures 46mm in diameter and 50mm in length, Size B measures 43 mm in diameter and 50mm in length. Both sizes have a pull stem 21mm long, which you can trim to the length that is right for you.
Size A:
is recommended for women who have given birth vaginally or who have had a caesarean section and are aged 30 or above.
Size B
is recommended for women who have not given birth or who have had a caesarean section and are aged below 30.

I hate tampons and pads, what are the alternatives?
Ever tried the Moon cup? We've recommended it before to people who want to save the planet as it's an eco friendly alternative to the usual sanitary items. The Mooncup is a small silicone cup with a tag on the base that fits inside the vagina and collects menstrual blood as it flows. You can pull it out, empty and wash it, and then replace it. It's fiddly at first, but more and more women are becoming fans everyday.
Why is the Mooncup better?
The Mooncup menstrual cup contains no bleaches, deodorisers or absorbency gels. It does not interfere with your healthy vaginal environment, nor has it been associated with toxic shock syndrome.
The smooth surface of the Moon cup allows the mucus membranes of your vaginal wall to continue their essential cleansing and protective functions. The Mooncup does not absorb your body's natural defence mechanisms and will not deposit fibres in your vaginal wall.
For your safety the Moon cup is made from a special medical grade non-allergic silicone. Silicone is derived from silica which is one of the most abundant minerals on earth.
It will not cause irritation and is suitable for women with sensitive skin, thrush, eczema or allergy.
The Mooncup can be cleaned in the same way as baby equipment: with sterilising fluid, or by boiling for five minutes in an open pan of water.
Unlike pads and tampons the Mooncup menstrual cup is reusable, eliminating the need to carry bulky spares. With proper care your Mooncup will last for several years.
Imagine the towels and tampons that you will be disposing of in landfill sites during those years! >!!
Still not convinced about the Mooncup?
Initially you may find the idea of the Mooncup menstrual cup unattractive. Perhaps it is messy, uncomfortable or unhygienic? This is a consistent first reaction to the menstrual cup, and one well worth reconsidering.
Most of us have grown up in an era which offered no alternative to disposable feminine hygiene products and this fact has contributed to the way in which we think about our periods and menstruation.
It is always challenging to experiment with new ideas, particularly those of such a personal nature. The benefits of the menstrual cup however are too great to be ignored.
We offer a friendly and supportive advice service for new Moon cup users. Please contact us if you need any advice.
What Mooncup women say:
"I've been using the mooncup for 2 months and its great basically because it doesn't pollute the environment and its very cost effective in relation to other products. It does also make for an easier period and generally a more enjoyable one. Its comfortable to wear and I find I change it much less often than tampons, in fact its easy to forget its there."

Hurrah for the Mooncup! I've been using it for about 7 months now and it's such a great thing. I first saw it advertised (or something very similar) in a magazine in New York last summer and was intrigued. Then at Glastonbury last year there was a little stand in the Green Fields and that's where I got my leaflet from. I love the fact that I'm not flushing more things down the toilet, or adding to the mass of waste every house produces. I love the fact that it has undoubtably saved me money. It feels like the natural thing to do - to let the flow out rather than plug it or soak it up. I was a little squeamish at first, to be honest, but now actually find it fascinating to be able to observe just how much blood comes out of you. I am proud to say I have converted one friend (and am working on others) and she, in turn, converted a friend of hers. Her friend's first moon cup didn't last very long as the dog chewed it up, but she immediately got another one! Every woman should use this - it's the obvious and sensible thing! Can I have some leaflets and some stickers to carry on my crusade please? Thank you
Alison
"I am impressed. I am fascinated. How come I have never heard of one of these before? Why aren't they on the usual supermarket shelves alongside tampons etc. This is my first time of using it and like I say I have very heavy periods and am amazed that this doesn't leak. It doesn't smell. It feels comfortable once I have cut the stem to the right length. It's so easy to use and store. Even my vagina seems to accept it. No more packing my supermarket trolley out with packets of tampax and sanitary towels. I shall treat myself with the money I will be saving! We have recently had cause to have Dyna-Rod out because our sewerage overflowed. My husband was convinced it was me putting sanitary towels down there!! It could have been. £18.99 is far cheaper than the £100 charge for overflowing drains!!
I will now spread the word. All my friends are going to know about this and I sincerely hope they give it a try. "
From a very satisfied customer.
