Does Collagen Red Light Therapy really work?
Yep, you bet it does! Those clever geeks (oophs minds) at NASA with the American Space Agency discovered that light exposure has lasting and beneficial anti-ageing properties. Not just ordinary light of course this is a Red Light at 633 Nanometres.
For obvious reasons I was wary, I am well aware of the dangers of sunbathing, after all I grew up in the 80's when it was fashionable to have a tan all year round. I was a bit sceptical about the properties of a Collagen Lamp so I decided to find out more.
Collagen is actually a protein; it works with elastin to give our skin firmness and strength. As we age our collagen level decreases, that's why we get wrinkles. Skincare professionals have been looking for ways to how to help our bodies produce more collagen, and now thanks to NASA it looks as though we might have a solution! Any woman in her 40's knows about collagen tablets, botox and fillers but the thought of a totally natural way to keep wrinkle-free really interested me…….
Collagen Light Therapy works by shining a bright (and I mean bright) light onto your face, it's a reddish colour and feels wonderfully warm. Just fifteen minutes works really deep by penetrating into the dermis by 8 - 10mm. According to the boffins, this then triggers the body to naturally create more collagen and generate more capillaries. This means that circulation is improved; collagen is boosted so sad tired skin is banished and replaced with firmer, younger looking skin. No needles, no surgery just a bit of natural hlep along the way!
Can a machine really banish wrinkles?
Well the scientific evidence was there, so it was up to me to put it through its paces. I decided to set aside a proper routine and do 'before' and 'after' pictures of myself just to compare. I tried it in the morning and in the evening, for me, the morning was best, just fifteen minutes before I got ready for work, I found that by using the collagen lamp I also became more aware of my skin and looked after it better, which is no bad thing anyway.
This safe and really rather pleasant therapy is amazing, and now it's available in your own home too! I used my collagen lamp three times a week for 15-20 mins each session, obviously without make-up which is why the morning time suited me best.
So, Did Collagen Red Light Therapy really reduce wrinkles?
Of course it's not instant. You are working on deep layers, which are working their way to the surface. But what I did notice was that within 3 - 4 weeks I had the kind of radiance that I'd lost years ago! My skin was visibly brighter and certainly more elastic. My crow's feet were less noticeable and those deep furrows (frown lines says Hubby) I get between my eyes were much smoother. Incidentally one of the Mums at school remarked that I must have had botox, when I said no, and smiled she said she knew I hadn't because my face still moved!
I continue to use my Collagen Lamp, it is relaxing and I know it not only feels regenerating it is regenerating. My Mum has started using it too and we are converts, so you see, you don't have to use Botox and Fillers, red light and collagen therapy is the next big thing!
